In case you do not set up a subdomain for your comet micro-stores, all your micro-stores will live on the Comet domain and the URL will start with "satellites.comet.rocks/store/...".
We recommend setting up a subdomain for your micro-stores in order to give shoppers additional confidence that the URL they click on is your own brand.
Setting Up a Custom Domain
To add a custom domain to Comet, head to the 'Store settings' tab and click 'Store Details' to begin the setup process.
1. Choose a Name For Your Subdomain
Your Comet micro-stores will live on a subdomain of your main brand domain. Example = store.comet.rocks (where all your Comet-powered stores will live)
Before starting this setup, pick a new subdomain that isn't being used for other business purposes. Here are some popular options our brands use:
social.nike.com
try.nike.com
lp.nike.com
Enter your subdomain, e.g. social.nike.com, in the 'Satellite Store Domain' field.
2. Configure DNS Settings
For this step, you'll need access to your DNS provider or involve a colleague who has access. This is typically managed where you purchased your domain, for example GoDaddy, Cloudflare or Squarespace. Please check the help center from your providers on how to create a subdomain and add new records:
You will need to create a CNAME record with the values below in order to link your subdomain to Comet.
3. Confirm and wait
After completing the previous steps, the connection usually takes effect within 10 minutes but may take up to 24 hours.
If your subdomain isn't connected after 24 hours, reach out to [email protected] and we'll help you troubleshoot.
